Buddies!

One of the hardest parts about covid-19 is social isolation. Kids who used to see their friends 5 days a week are now shut in at home, often with an unhealthy family atmosphere.

To combat this unfortunate reality, Kristen and Tessa spend Sabbath afternoons giving kids a chance to interact together safely. Every week after teleconference church, we take a walk with the locals.

This past Sabbath was full of cake-making creativity...

...adventures down "Slippery Slide Mountain"...

...and two new buddies!

These little boys started off as acquaintances. One (let's call him Nick) was afraid of heights and unsure of how to get down the hill. The other stepped in without hesitation, quickly taking Nick's coat and guiding him down by the hand. It was a beautiful scene! No prompting from us brought about this selfless kindness. We positively affirmed their interaction, and in response they declared that they are now buddies.

As the boys parted ways, one called out, "Bye buddy!"

"Bye!" the other responded enthusiastically, all smiles.

This is what kids are missing; this is what kids need. Please be safe, but please remember that people need people. God bless!
